About Abby Foster

Abby Foster is a native of western Maryland and a proud New Mexican by choice. She earned her B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2003 and her Juris Doctor from the Dickinson School of Law at Penn State University in 2008. In 2014, Abby and her husband moved to Albuquerque, where they are raising two boys and building deep roots in the community.

Abby brings nearly two decades of legal and mediation experience to her practice. She has represented dozens of New Mexicans with disabilities in guardianship proceedings across the state, serving as Guardian ad Litem for both adults and children. Her work has spanned district courts statewide, where she has advocates for vulnerable clients with clarity, compassion, and steady support.

Beyond guardianship, Abby’s career reflects a broad commitment to public service and accessible justice. She has served as Managing Attorney for Policy with the City of Albuquerque, providing legal and policy analysis on ordinances and advising on complex municipal issues. Abby also managed statewide mediation programs for the Administrative Office of the Courts, coordinating volunteer mediators, and developing innovative online dispute resolution tools to expand access to justice.

Her private practice, Abby Foster Law Office, focuses on adult guardianship, estate planning, expungement, and IPRA/public records requests. Abby’s approach is client‑centered: she offers clear guidance, sliding‑scale fees, and payment plans to ensure that every New Mexican can access the legal support they need.

Abby is admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico and previously admitted in Pennsylvania. She combines the precision of her editorial background with the empathy of a seasoned advocate, building a practice designed to relieve stress and deliver durable solutions for her clients.
